An early shot from Kepha Aswani was an indication that Thika United’s aim was to win the match against Sher Keraturi at the Thika Municipal stadium yesterday.
A significant approach into the third minute was followed when Hadji Mwachoki banks the intensions clearly with a shot from 30yards that goes inches above the bar making former Harambee stars keeper Noah Ayuko become more vocal.
Minutes later Ali Kenga’s shot went wide as the game took a masculine approach where boys were distinguished from men.
With that approach being significantly an easy task for Thika due to their gym practice, the frustrated Sher Keraturi boys were aggressively becoming more violent and mischievous something that made the referee penalize Amon Muchari and Abdalla Juma took the free kick that was strategically placed into the area but Russell Kibet’s header hit it out of play.
The visitors were not to be taken for granted, Ibrahim Hannal and former Bidco player Jacob Omondi were two fierce men looking for a goal.
Their one two counter attack strategies made it more impossible for the defense but still the ever calm Vincent Nyamberi and the 6’4 tall defender Russell Kibet gave them an extremely hard time to see the keeper.
On the other hand Jefferson Ominde was in play and gave no room for mistakes, making sure that his side was covered all through and that everything was strategically placed or the team making sure that the full back right position was in place.
The second half was a significance of a major come back, two minutes into the game a one two play by Kepha Aswani and Hadji Mwachoki gave room for a shot that went inches from the post a significance of the things of happen.
The set piece of Hadji Mwachoki and to Ali Kenga through to Kepha Aswani went harmlessly wide a move that set the bracket for Aswani finding relevant foot into his magic shot as his fourth hit the wall yet again.
But the highlighter was set when Crispin Olando took a corner through into the area that saw a defenders frustration and anxiety to clear hit the ball with his hand a move that led to a penalty during the 70th minute.
The penalty was kindly executed by Mwachoki despite the rains and it made the whole crowd cheer and be more jubilant
Moments later the teams playing under pressure led to Ominde fouling Omondi out of the box which made the referee Kadenge Mwakombe award them with an indirect shot but the clever boys decided to take a direct shot that was banked into the net but the lines man flag was up an indication that cut short the celebrations and ensured that Thika had taken the initiative.
There were no major injuries thou Mr. Kadenge had to discipline Geoffrey Njuguna for indecent behavior. Early substitutions were made as Ibrahim Hannal, Titus Wamalwa and Fredrick Owira were replaced by Geoffrey Njuguna, Evans Majani and Juma Beulee respectively.
While coach Juma replaced Haji Mwachoki, Kepha Aswani for Francis Chege and Barrack Odhiambo in order to enhance more pressure.
The game ended Thika United one Sher Keraturi nil a something that catapult the coming weekend results and make everything possible for the team to end in a good position.
