thika united lose to national under 20 team
By Jimmie Kairu

The national under 20 team beat Thika United one goal to nil in a friendly match organized by the two sides at Kasarani Sports Stadium yesterday.

The goal which came in the 26th minute was scored by Thika United young star Stephen Waroro Kiaritha whose counter attack left him alone with Lucas Owira the keeper.

The youths seemed excited that they had scored a team in the premiere league and that made them so courageous playing a very fit and organized game and creating every opportunity they could get.

On the other hand Thika United was rather relaxed enjoying the pitch for they were as well preparing themselves for the match against Tusker in the on going Premiere League.

Coach Juma was testing the skill of his key men to see if they were ready to deliver and also bring in the new players whom he says that they are in a position to deliver.

Paul Anunda missed several chances that would have seen United take the day, Joseph Mwangi too was on a highway of events as his swift headers did not get the back of the net.

Though they tried they did not quite deliver. Edwin Kosgey who made the entrance in the second half missed five good opportunities three on target but one off target.

Juma then replaced Nicholas Muyoti for Anthony Ivan Maimba, whose skill still perfected the midfield, giving it no loop holes just as Muyoti did.

A question to be desired would be then how will United face Tusker FC, if they performed the way they did? It would take great determination, will power and the zeal to score and heal the wound of the game against Agro-Chemical so as they can maintain or rather take a good place in the league.

Francis Chege also had a fabulous time playing for the National under 20 is one of his achievements as he aims higher for the national squad.

His effort was evident on the pitch as he had a fantastic but still difficult time trying to penetrate through the defense and passing the ball to Kiaritha.

The national under 20 shall face Sudan’s under 20 this weekend in a return match at Sudan. Kenya won one nil in there home game last week and is looking forward to another game.
