Thika United Draw With Tusker FC Away As Coach Juma Says He's Going For The Title
Jimmie Kairu

Thika United drew nil – nil with Tusker FC at the Moi International Sports centre Kasarani over the weekend.

The match which was described by Coach Juma as to being the most tactical, most technical and well executed, game ended with United claiming one point away.

“What is dreadful is when you are two big clubs competing for the league title when it is on an entirely different zone. That is why it is so important to get a good start." Said the coach, “but I am banking in my boys that we are going to win all the five home matches starting with Mahakama FC this weekend.

The draw came through after immense missed opportunities and a good start for Thika United whose mission was to ensure that they frustrate the Hosts.

This was evident when Uniteds striker Stephen Kiaritha fought helplessly to score but his efforts were shunned by both the centre referee and the lines man.

It was evident that Dennis Odhiambo was looking for a shot on goal but his efforts were felt by Joseph Ruto when his free kick went slightly off target.

Thika United started the second half with purpose, Denis Odhiambo nearly reprised his goal from the last game but this time the left footer’s drive was blocked, hence missing the critical opportunity.

The centre referee Isaac Ochieng stopped the game for two minutes after he confused Michael Luvutsi Alubisi for Russell Kibet and wanted to give him a red card, which caused havoc for around 5 minutes

“The beauty in the game is to win within the respect of the rules, but we will do whatever it takes to win any away match as we have in the recent times.

“And, as for whether you can win the league with Mathare United 9 points ahead, historically it is proven that the teams who win the League are the better technical teams and as you have seen Thika United is one of the few teams”

Thika United faces Mahakama in a return match after drawing with them 2 nil in the last leg.
